Pintello Comedy Theater
Presents their First Annual Comedy With Kids
written by Gregory Johnston
presented by arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
. Directed by Stephanie Pintello
It’s a special summer program as Pintello Comedy Theater hosts their first annual “Comedy with Kids” starring a blend of funny people of all ages. The play is called “Curtain Going Up.” Written by Gregory Johnston, it’s a play within a play about a fictional Riverview Community Theater production of a Deep South drama which may or may not ever get to Opening Night. First there’s the mystery of the missing scripts, jealousy among the cast, a romance (or two?) among the teachers, and a Broadway star to interfere – all of it meant to tickle your funny bone.
This new show will open on Friday, August 20th for two weekends, including two matinees, through August 28th. Show dates and times are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22nd and Saturday, August 28th. The play will be interpreted for American Sign Language on Saturday evening August 21st. Reservations and information are online at www.PintelloComedy.com or by calling 408-337-1599, or e-mail to Pintello@charter.net .
Rod and Marion Pintello are happy to introduce the newest family director, Stephanie Pintello, whom patrons will recognize from her appearances on stage, back stage, and at the front of the theater. The Pintellos enjoy all aspects of the theater business, and they swap jobs throughout the seasons, include family and friends onstage, offstage and backstage.
Produced by Rod and Marion Pintello, the Comedy with Kids is being presented in the Gilroy Grange Hall, 8191 Swanston Lane in Gilroy. The comedy troupe continues to perform full-length comedy plays featuring local actors, comfortable table seating, coffee and cookies, and their trademark friendly welcome.
Bringing four new comedies to the stage each year at the Grange Hall is a labor of love, say the Pintellos adding that the family is very happy with the central location off Leavesley Road between Monterey and Forest. “Our shows here have been very well-received; we’re very pleased with the enthusiasm of our audiences. Our patrons have become friends.”
Opening night at the cabaret-style theater will be Friday, August 20th, 2010, with six performances continuing through August 28th. Information and reservations can be found at the web site www.PintelloComedy.com or by calling 408-337-1599. Or you can reach the Pintello family on e-mail at Pintello@charter.net.
