“The Long Weekend”
by Norm Foster
Directed by Marion Pintello
The Pintello family has chosen another play by
their favorite playwright, Norm Foster, as the next production
for their popular comedy troupe, newly re-opened in Gilroy. “The
Long Weekend” is the story of two couples who are long-time
friends getting together for a reunion. The audience first meets
one couple, then the other, and when all four people get together
things are not what they seemed at all. In the second act, which
takes place two years later, circumstances have really changed
for everyone, including the viewpoint of the audience
This new show will open on Friday, June 8th, and run Friday
and Saturday nights
at 8:00 p.m. for four weekends. One matinee will be presented
on Fathers’ Day,
June 17th, and one show will be interpreted for American Sign
Language by Stephanie Pintello on Saturday night, June 16th.
Reservations and information are online at www.PintelloComedy.com or by calling 408-776-8004, or e-mail Pintello@charter.net.
Produced by Rod and Marion Pintello, the comedy play is being
presented in the Gilroy Grange Hall, 8191 Swanston Lane in Gilroy.
The comedy troupe continues to present full-length comedy plays
featuring local actors, comfortable table seating, coffee and
cookies, and their trademark friendly welcome.
The two couples are played by local actors and real-life friends
Bill Corneth, Jo Anna Evans, and Marion and Rod Pintello. Bill
just completed performances with SVCT’s California Suite,
and Jo Anna directs and acts for the community theater group.
Both are returning to the Pintello Comedy Theater stage and relishing
the intimate comedy venue. Rod Pintello is recognizable all over
the South Bay as a comic actor and musical theater performer.
Marion and Rod have appeared together on stage for Center Stage,
for SVCT and two years ago for their own Pintello Comedy Theater.
While Marion more often directs plays, she has enjoyed her forays
into comedy and musicals. “The Long Weekend” is her
first adventure directing and acting both in the same show. “Directing
is natural for me, but I have to concentrate a lot more to be
an actor as well,” she says.
Bringing five new comedies to the stage in their first year
at the Grange Hall is a labor of love, says producer Rod Pintello,
and he adds that the family is very happy with the central location
off Leavesley Road between Monterey and Forest. “Our most
recent show set attendance records, we’re very pleased
with the enthusiasm of our audiences; our patrons have become
friends.”
Opening night at the cabaret-style theater will be Friday, June
8th, with performances continuing Friday and Saturday nights
through June 30th. Information and reservations can be found
at the web site www.PintelloComedy.com, or by calling 408-776-8004.
