Holiday Benefit for St. Joseph's Family Center
Pintello Comedy Theater will be sponsoring a benefit for St. Joseph's Family Center at each show during this holiday season. The popular theater group will be offering wine from several local wineries with proceeds going to Gilroy's well-known charity organization. "We're happy to be combining a helping hand at the holidays and an evening of entertainment," said Rod Pintello, director of the new comedy play "Looking" which opens on November 18th. The new wine service at Pintello Comedy Theater will feature local wineries pouring fine wines from nearby tasting rooms. "We're happy to offer our patrons wine service, along with a chance to get to know local vintners, and especially happy with this opportunity to help out with St. Joseph's Center, the heart of Gilroy's charitable giving. It's our pleasure to make this donation opportunity available."
St. Joseph's Center has worked in the south county for over thirty years to improve the quality of life for local residents through services that focus on food security, shelter, and gainful employment. They also recruit and coordinate volunteers, and work with Second Harvest year-round. Their website www.StJosephsGilroy.org offers information on their good works, as well as accepting donations.
Pintello Comedy Theater is in their ninth year of presenting a wide variety of plays with the focus on fun. "We love entertaining and laughing with so many patrons who have become friends," says Whitney Pintello, "and giving back to the community is the bonus." The family has been able to offer fundraising opportunities to many local groups, has dedicated shows to Brownell Band, to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, and to foreign outreach groups. We're very aware of the impact of charitable individuals and small businesses in a thriving community like Gilroy."
Theatergoers are in for a load of laughs and more hilarious performances at the theater each evening. "Looking" was written by well-known Canadian playwright Norm Foster. This new show will open on Friday, November 18th, and run Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. for four weekends, closing on Saturday, December 10th. One matinee performance will be presented on Sunday, November 27th at 2 p.m. Reservations and information are online at www.PintelloComedy.com or by calling (408) 337-1599, or e-mail Pintello@charter.net.
Rod Pintello takes the director's chair on this gem and he's bringing some of the South Bay's favorite actors back to this community stage at the Gilroy Grange Hall in November. The cast of "Looking" includes Denee Lewis Bohnsack and Angela Doss Santiago as the two reluctantly eligible women, and the deceptively overconfident men who are "looking" will be played by Jeff Patereau and Jayson Stebbins. All four are veteran performers on the Pintello Comedy Theater stage, and they are anxious to work with Norm Foster's new script.
"We're such fans of Norm Foster's plays," says Pintello, "He's the most produced playwright in Canada, and our loyal patrons know why." Foster also wrote several previous hits for Pintello Comedy Theater, including "Self Help," "Sadie Flynn Comes to Big Oak," "The Long Weekend," "Maggie's Getting Married," "Office Hours," and most recently the side-splitting performances of "The Love List." Rod and Marion have met him, seen him perform on stage, and continue to correspond, sharing congratulations for comedy achievements.
Produced by Rod and Marion Pintello, the comedy play is being presented in the Gilroy Grange Hall at 8191 Swanston Lane in Gilroy, just a block from Monterey Street, but around a couple of corners. The popular comedy troupe continues to present full-length comedy plays featuring local actors, comfortable table seating, coffee and snacks, and their trademark friendly welcome. Now in partnership with local wineries, the Pintello Family is very pleased to invite everyone to enjoy laughs and entertainment at their theater in the Grange Hall in Gilroy. They're sure you'll agree with their motto, "There's Something Funny Going on Here!"
